ХII international Conference in Forest Phytopathology and Mycology Hosted by BSTU

Belarusian State Technological University hosted XII International Applied Research Conference “Problems of Forest Pathology and Mycology” dedicated to 100th birth centenary of Professor N.I. Fedorov and Professor V.I. Shubin. The conference brought together over 200 scholars from 6 countries and 60 research centres, universities and industrial organizations. Over the four days of the conference the speakers gave 70 research presentations featuring such topics as control of forest pests and diseases, challenges and solutions of phytopathogen and phytophage invasion, outcomes of mycobiota and lichenobiota inspection in various territories, role of mycocenosis in forest community formation, resilience of natural and urban forests to adverse environmental effects, monitoring and future scenarios of large-scale pathology of woody plants.??

The conference also featured a field trip to Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station and visit to a research facility for monitoring of ash forest dieback processes. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the methodology of ongoing phytopathological monitoring, symptoms and characteristic features of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus development. The scholars could explore the university facilities for practical training and applied research work of PhD students and were given a tour of academic buildings, Wildlife Museum, Botanical Garden of Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station. The day wrapped up with a trip to the Mir Castle, a piece of exceptional medieval architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.? ?
