Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station

BSTU affiliation “Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station” was established in 1948 as the base for conducting scientific research and practical training of BSTU students (at the time of its creation – the Belarusian Forestry Technical Institute). The forestry is located on the territory of Dzerzhinsky and Uzdensky administrative districts of Minsk region. Almost all types of forest plantations found in the Republic of Belarus are represented on its lands. The forestry includes 3 forest areas, hunting farm with the area of 21.7 thousand hectares, permanent forest nursery – 34.1 hectares, botanical garden with an ecological path, woodworking shop, museum of nature, campus (academic building, 3 dormitories, canteen, stadium), field research and other facilities. Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station has a rich flora and fauna, there are unique natural objects of international importance. Among them are the forest-swamp-lake complex “Bezdonnitza”; old-age pine plantations (160-190 years old), preserved on the area of about 100 hectares and allowing you to see firsthand the results of age-old successional changes in forest phytocenosis; rare plants sanctuaries, etc. More than 150 experimental educational-and-training objects were created by teachers together with students of the Forestry Faculty. Currently they are functioning on the territory of Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station. Among them are geographical cultures of pine and spruce created in 1959-1961 by 65 climatypes from various regions of the world, sites of various types of logging carried out using modern environmentally sound technologies, pine cultures of the “Negorelskaya” species, numerous field stations for experiments and observations in the work areas of departments. Negoreloe Forestry Experimental Station is the best scientific-and-training base on the post-Soviet territory. Every year from April to November, about 1000 students of BSTU receive practical training here.
