Organic Substances Technology Faculty provides an opportunity for comprehensive development of youth in educational, scientific, creative and sports fields. The main task is to train highly qualified and demanded specialists with the knowledge of modern technologies and broad outlook. EDUCATION

The faculty trains engineering personnel for such important sectors of the economy of the Republic of Belarus as chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, woodworking, food and pharmaceutical, as well as for organizations and agencies for standardization and product certification. The educational process of the faculty includes:

? highly qualified teaching staff: 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, 10 doctors of sciences and professors, more than 70 associate professors, PhD;

? unique training and laboratory facilities, that allow to simulate modern production processes, to study the characteristics and properties of materials, parameters of technological processes and to assess the quality of the manufactured products;

? practical training: elective laboratory practical, 4 types of production training at the leading enterprises of the country (introductory practical training, general engineering training, technological practical training, pre-graduation internship);

? participation in the annual scientific and practical conference of the faculty “Science is a step into the future”;

? the opportunity to study business foreign language, communicative and colloquial foreign language at the Language Training Center, and to attend special courses;

? lectures by leading world scientists, study for master’s and postgraduate degrees;

? international student exchange - foreign educational and scientific internships and conferences; student startups, subject Olympiads and competitions;

? friendly staff and entertaining student life - over 1100 students and undergraduates, KVN, intellectual games, artistic amateur performances, sports competitions, construction teams, volunteer movement.

RESEARCH

The departments are equipped with up-to-date research equipment which is the basis for fundamental and applied research in the following areas:

?organic synthesis of new chemical compounds and obtaining substances with a given set of physical and chemical properties, development and improvement of technologies for obtaining, separating and purifying products of basic organic and petrochemical synthesis, microbiological synthesis;

?molecular biotechnology, genetics of microorganisms;

?isolation and analysis of biologically active substances to prepare herbal formulations and medicines; ?chemical, mechano-chemical, hydrolytic and microbiological processing of herbal raw materials;

?development of resource-saving energy-efficient technologies for obtaining new polymer compositions and various functional materials and products of industrial, medical, food, construction, agricultural and optoelectronic purposes; ?ecological biotechnology and industrial safety. Faculty scientists take an active part in international collaborative projects and fruitfully cooperate with foreign educational and scientific centers and organizations: Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim), Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland), Zurich University (Switzerland), University of Food Technologies (Bulgaria), Politechnika Bialostocka (Poland), Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology (Moscow), Saint Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical Academy, Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University named after S.M. INDUSTRY

Applied research and scientific laboratories provide cooperation with enterprises and accomplish specialized practical training of engineering and scientific personnel:

?esearch laboratory for the development of nanofibers production technologies;

?tire industry laboratory;

?Hi-Tech laboratory of pulp and paper and wood chemical industry, production of wood-based panels and plastics;

?research unit of dual subordination for the development and introduction into manufacture of new technologies and medicines, GLP and GMP standards together with the State Enterprise “SPC LOTIOS”.

?These laboratories are funded by enterprises and innovative funds of concerns ?Belneftekhim? and ?Bellesbumprom?.
