Dushanbe, October 08, 2025 – XXVIII Forum of Intergovernmental Council for Timber Industry and Forestry started in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The pivotal event for the forest industries of the CIS member states brought together top experts, ministers and sectoral agencies. The Republic of Belarus is represented by the delegation of the Ministry of Forestry and BSTU First Vice-Rector Andrei Sakovich. The delegation is headed by the First Deputy Minister of Forestry Andrei Karas.

The two-day meeting will focus on digitalization of forestry sectors and building a long-tern partnership strategy. The core documents under discussion are the draft Concept Note on digital transformation of the forest sector and the 2026-2030 Action Plan for Cooperation.

Education and research in the field of forestry will be given special consideration.?

Belarusian State Technological University is a basic higher educational institution of the CIS in the field of forestry and forest industry. BSTU First Vice-Rector Andrei Sakovich will take the floor at the session with the progress report for 2024-2025 and plans for the upcoming two years. Andrei Sakovich will also touch upon the most promising areas of multilateral cooperation in the field of forestry education and research.

The resolutions taken in Dushanbe will set a benchmark for the development of the timber and forest sectors in the CIS member states where particular emphasis will be made on cutting-edge digital solutions and strengthening of workforce capacity.
